Personal Safety Campaign

MYPs from Bradford North are encouraging young people to play their part in making their local areas safer by reporting problems to the Council. The MYPs visited the Ravenscliffe area of Bradford North to note down areas of concern including broken streetlights and overgrown bushes down pathways.
The MYPs have met with the Area Coordinators office to discuss the issue and will report the issues to the Council Contact Team who will arrange for repairs to be made to the lights and the other issues addressed.
The MYPs are encouraging other young people to report issues that affect their personal safety to the Council Contact Team by calling 01274 431000 or emailing contactus@bradford.gov.uk
Bradford North MYP Hina Rasheed said “It is vital that young people feel safe on the streets and it is important that young people are aware of how to report their concerns to the Council”.
The MYPs were asked at the constituency conference in April 2006 to work on the issue of personal safety for young people in Ravenscliffe. MYPs from Bradford West were also asked to work on a similar issue.
The North MYPs also visited the Greenway to look at areas that young people had asked them to get cleaned up. They will be contacting Bradford Council to get the area cleaned up soon.
