MYPs Call For Cheaper, Safer and More Reliable Public Transport

MYPs for BKYP's Bradford North Constituency will meet with a senior Council committee on the 24th of June to call for cheaper, safer and more reliable public transport for young people in the Bradford District.

The MYPs will present the results of a district wide survey to members of the Champions for Children board as part of their campaign to improve public transport for young people. The survey, which was carried out throughout April, saw young people from accross Bradford sharing their views and experiences of public transport with the MYPs.

The results showed that 71.1% of those questioned wanted cheaper public transport while almost 40% said they did not feel safe while travelling on buses.

60% of the young people questioned backed the idea of a discount scheme for transport similar to the exisiting Passport to Leisure Scheme. 68% said more reliable buses would encourage them to use public transport more while 66% wanted to see improved safety in bus stations and at bus stops.

As well as meeting with the Champions for Children boardthe MYPs will be presenting their findings and recommendations to the BKYP public meeting at City Hall on Friday 20th of June. Check out the BKYP homepage for more info on the meeting.

The MYP's final report to the Champions for Children board will be published here following the meeting.
