Bulls' Stars Call On Young People To Stand Up And Be Counted

Some of Bradford Bull's young star players have called on young people from Bradford and Keighley to put their names forward to stand in the next BKYP elections.

The players who are all aged 21 or under, will be eligable to vote in the BKYP elections in January 2009.

Sam Burgess, who was voted Super League young player of the year last year, said "It’s so important that young people, like us, have a say. We are the next generation, and our opinions count for a lot! We aren’t kids,
we’re young adults, and we’re probably the most informed to make decisions that involve us."

Dave Halley added "The Youth Parliament sounds like a great idea, providing young people with an opportunity to have their say on local issues that affect them. Seems like a great way to make Bradford a better place for young people."

Matt James said "The Youth Parliament elections are the opportunity to take things into your own hands and try and make a difference.

There’s no point in complaining about local issues, but not acting on them, if you don’t make it so people know the problems, how can you expect them to do anything about them?! Rather than talking about it with your mate, get involved in the elections and make what you’ve got to say count!"

Craig Kopczak added "It’s great that the Parliament not only gives the chance for young people to have a voice, but that what is said is actually acted upon, with money being put where their mouths are!"
