Local MPs Back Search For New MYPs
Two of Bradford's MPs have backed the campaign to find a new generation of politicians to stand in the 2009 BKYP elections.

Ann Cryer, MP for Keighley said "It is so important that people get involved at an early age. I was a Councillor at 22 and it really gave me confidence to help people and stand up for my beliefs. Politics is hard work but rewarding."
"Being active at a young age gives you a head start in following a political career, it helps with the skills you need and gets you known. You make good friends, and that means you can discuss ideas and get support from each other. I wouldn’t put anyone off getting stuck in. Fighting for what I believe in has been my work and I have found doing a job with conviction, integrity and often a bit of humour very worthwhile."

Philip Davies, MP for Shipley said, "The Youth Parliament is an excellent way for young people to get involved in the political process and make a real difference. Whatever kind of society young people in the Bradford district want to see, I hope they will become a candidate for the Youth Parliament so that they can try to bring it about."
"I certainly hope that as many young people as possible across the Shipley constituency become candidates and if any young person in my constituency would like to discuss becoming a candidate with me, I would be more than happy to meet them and encourage them"
